Humble Beginnings
Platinum Painting was created in late 2008 in Keller with husband-wife founders Karl and Marjorie Pickens. After years of working in the furniture business, they were accustomed to helping clients with home décor, color, and aesthetics. When Karl had a chance to work in the painting industry, he found a perfect match for their customer service skills and decided to make the switch.
Unlike with other residential painting companies they encountered, Karl and Marjorie wanted the flexibility to offer customers more options than just the wall color. They realized that customers should get to choose the quality of the materials as well. That way, they can get truly personalized, affordable estimates for their homes. Only two months after they bought a house in Keller, Karl and Marjorie decided to start their own business—Platinum Painting—to meet that need.

At the very beginning of the company, Karl and Marjorie contacted family, friends, and even guests who attended their wedding to see if they could put new business signs in their yards. Then by simple word-of-mouth recommendations and smart marketing, Platinum Painting quickly grew and expanded to serve many locations around North Texas, including Dallas.
